Neighborhood Crime Report - Cluster Mailboxes Broken Into
The HOA Office has received reports from several residents about their cluster mailboxes being broken into last Friday afternoon/Friday evening time frame. One resident reported seeing teenagers hanging out around her mailbox cluster on Friday afternoon and that cluster was one where every box had been broken into and all the contents had been taken. From what we are hearing, this affects mailbox clusters on both sides of Brodie Lane. It was not limited to one specific area.
If you have had your mailbox broken into, you need to call the Travis County Sheriff's Office yourself at their non-emergency number - 512/974-0845 and report it. Don't count on your neighbors to make a generic call for for the mailbox cluster. To get YOUR box repaired, there must be a report on file for your mailbox.
The Postal Service advises it takes 2-4 weeks repair time, so you will need topick up your mail at your assigned Post Office until your box has been repaired. If you live on the West side of Brodie, your Post Office is the Oak Hill Branch. If you live on the East side of Brodie, your Branch is Mockingbird Station on Manchaca Road.
To help out yourself as well as your neighbors, please be extra observant and and report any suspicious activities or persons lingering around mailbox clusters to the Sheriff's Department by calling the above phone number or 911 if you witness a crime in progress. Stealing mail is a Federal crime.
